Service Description

Every other Saturday, from 3pm to 6pm. Upcoming dates are in the booking calendar. - Introduction to ceramics: different types of clays and glazes, firing process, examples of different styles and ways of transforming clay into a ceramic piece. - Demonstration on the potter's wheel: kneading and preparing the clay, centering and modulating shapes: glasses, cups, bowls. - Each student has their own wheel to experiment and practice during the class. - Choice of a glaze, which will be applied by us after the pieces are finished and fired for the first time - Each student gets two pieces, which can be picked up once they are ready (approximately 2 or 3 weeks). We work with local clays, and fire at a high temperature, which is ideal for use as tableware. Drinking tea or coffee from a cup made with our own hands is a wonderful experience! No experience in ceramics is necessary to participate in the workshop. Classes are held in small groups of up to 6 people. All materials and firing are included. We have aprons, but we recommend that you wear comfortable clothes that can get stained (it's just clay, it comes off in the wash!) and a willingness to get your hands dirty! Classes in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
